WWII German Paratrooper Helmet Liners in Recreation Directory

One with an Honorable Discharge. Ive had to make that distinction since my namesake entered the White House back in 92. Im an avid collector of antique military items, especially the German paratrooper helmet. I purchased my first helmet from ByGone Militaria. The helmet needed a new liner, and thus began my search for a replacement liner. I spent many hours searching the internet, military magazines, etc., to no avail. Ken suggested that I could take my liner apart to see just what was involved in making one. I mulled this over as I didnt want to damage the existing liner beyond repair. Finally, I carefully took it apart and studied the makings. After many trial and error procedures I finished my first reproduction liner, and it fit my helmet perfectly I continued to experiment with different foams and band materials, and found a source that closely matched the original type used by the Germans from 1941 through 1945. By this time, I was thoroughly pleased with the results. Over the years, I dissected many helmets, and I still find many surprises in the way they were produced during WWII. Over the course of the years, I finally figured out how they stitched across the top of the leather liner. This stitch is identical to the stitching they used during WWII. This tops off the finest reproduction liner on the market today. No one has even come close to this type of quality.
