After working for 22 years as a ironworker hanging off of highrise buildings in the Boston area, John White was ready for a change. His love of fishing and his desire for a new career finally came to fruition in the early ‘90s when he and his wife, Kathy, bought their first Fisherman’s Outfitter retail store in Gloucester, MA. Gloucester was the perfect fishing village to set up shop, especially with its growing distinction as the 1 tuna fishing port in the world. Now, some 16 years and a loyal following later, Fisherman’s Outfitter has quadrupled its business and its store locations. This familyowned and operated business can credit its success to its dedication to handson service, knowledge of products, vast inventory, and an expert, highly dependable staff that understands the saltwater fisherman’s every need. In fact, to better serve his clientele and stay abreast of changes in and new products on the market, John attends workshops and distribution shows each winter from Florida to Massachusetts. Active in the fishing community, the company is a corporate sponsor of the North Shore Community Tuna Association and John serves as a board member.
